Tunnels

17 services

Tunnels give a local server a public URL, which helps for webhook testing, demos and reaching a home server without opening ports. Free plans differ in session length, subdomain stability and protocols. Cloudflare Tunnel publishes a local service through an outbound-only connection and offers Quick Tunnels without an account. localhost.run and serveo need nothing installed beyond SSH. Pinggy tunnels last 60 minutes and LocalXpose tunnels 15 minutes on the free plan, while localtonet allows 1 tunnel with 1 GB of bandwidth a month. localtunnel publishes its server code, so you can run your own.

A random subdomain usually changes each time a free tunnel restarts, so webhook URLs registered with a third party need updating. For private access between your own machines rather than public exposure, mesh VPNs fit better: Tailscale allows 3 users and 100 devices for personal use, ZeroTier 25 clients per network, Hamachi 5 people per network, and Radmin VPN unlimited peers.
