Managed databases

Database free tiers are capped on storage first, then on compute or request volume, and the second limit is often the one that matters. Neon gives 0.5 GB of Postgres storage per project across up to 100 projects, with 100 compute-unit hours a month each, and scales idle compute to zero, so the first query after a pause is slower. Prisma Postgres offers 1 GB and 200,000 operations a month without a card. CockroachDB Cloud allows 10 GB of storage and 50M request units a month. Aiven runs a single-node Postgres or MySQL with 1 GB of storage.

Outside Postgres, Turso gives SQLite-compatible databases with 9 GB of storage, 500 databases and 1B row reads a month, and Cloudflare D1 allows 5M rows read and 100,000 rows written a day. MongoDB Atlas includes 512 MB, Amazon DynamoDB and Azure Cosmos DB 25 GB each, and Couchbase Capella 8 GB on one node. Upstash covers Redis with 500,000 commands a month and a 256 MB maximum database. Qdrant hosts vectors on 4 GB of disk, and Neo4j Aura holds up to 200,000 graph nodes.

Check connection limits and inactivity rules as well as storage. Upstash allows 20 concurrent connections, filess.io caps each database at 10 MB, and MantleDB deletes buckets after 72 hours without activity. The list also includes database tooling such as Bytebase for schema migrations, DB Designer for modeling, and spreadsheet-style databases such as Airtable.
