Git hosting

16 services

Private repositories are free almost everywhere now, so the limits that matter are collaborators, storage and the CI minutes that come with the host. GitHub allows unlimited private repositories and collaborators. GitLab caps a free namespace at 5 collaborators, Bitbucket at 5 users and Azure DevOps at 5 active users, all with unlimited private repositories. AWS CodeCommit includes 5 active users and 50 GB of storage a month within your AWS account.

Some hosts are free only for open-source work: Codeberg, a nonprofit Forgejo instance, GNU Savannah, Savannah Non-GNU and SourceForge. Framagit and GitGud run GitLab with CI and Pages. Smaller hosts carry tight caps, such as projectlocker.com with 1 private project in 50 MB and Beanstalk with 1 repository of 100 MB. For other version control systems, Heptapod hosts Mercurial and Pijul is a patch-based alternative to Git.
